How does the new Beginner Bible Quizzing work?

  • The Beginner division is designed for quizzers age 6-8.
    • If a first-year quizzer is age 9 or 10, they may also participate as a Beginner.
    • Any quizzer age 6-8 may choose to participate at the Junior level.
  • There are 15 questions per quiz, like Junior. However, there are no cross-reference questions for Beginner quizzers.
  • Junior material consists of 276 verses; Beginner material consists of 183 verses. You can check out the material here.
  • Junior and Beginner quizzers will compete at the same tournaments.
  • There will be separate Beginner ribbons and awards at each tournament.
  • Tournament registration fees are paid by division. They can be paid in a single check.
    • The first team from each division will be $30, subsequent teams pay $5.
    • Example: Church A brings 2 Junior teams and 2 Beginner teams to a tournament. Junior team fees would be $35 ($30 + $5), Beginner team fees would also be $35 ($30 + $5). This church would pay $70 in registration fees for this tournament.
    • Example: Church B brings 1 Junior team and 3 Beginner teams to a tournament. Junior team fees would be $30, Beginner team fees would be $40 ($30 + $5 + $5). This church would pay $70 in registration fees for this tournament.
    • Example: Church C brings 2 Junior teams to a tournament. Junior team fees would be $35 ($30 + $5). This church would pay $35 in registration fees for this tournament.


What Scripture passages will the quizzers memorize in 2010?

The Bible Quizzing material for 2010 consists of selected verses from the book of Acts. Feel free to review the list of verse ranges and counts for Experienced, Intermediate, Junior and Beginner divisions.


When does the Bible Quizzing season start for 2010?

Quizzers will start memorizing their material on or about January 1/10. The first district invitational tournaments are scheduled for January. See the Senior 2010 schedule and the Junior 2010 schedule.


When does the Bible Quizzing season end in 2010?

Quizzers typically try to complete their memorization of all material by the middle of May. This gives them 3-4 weeks to study and review before June's state finals tournament. The winners of each division's state finals tournament are then eligible to attend their respective North American Bible Quizzing Tournament. The Junior Nationals are in St. Louis during July 26-30. The are in St. Louis Jul 31-Aug 4.


How are quizzing tournaments scheduled? What is their format?

  • District tournaments are scheduled for one Saturday each month, from January to June.
  • Each tournament is "double elimination" format.
  • Senior tournaments include Experienced and Intermediate quizzers.
  • Junior tournaments include Junior and Beginner quizzers.
  • The Senior Regionals is scheduled in April for Senior quizzers.

  • Senior and Junior tournaments are usually scheduled on different Saturdays. On occasion, a "joint Senior/Junior tournament" will be scheduled.


What church organization is Oregon Bible Quizzing associated with?

Oregon's Bible Quizzing programs operate under the auspices of the United Pentecostal Church International (www.upci.org), based in St. Louis, Missouri. The Junior Quizzing program is sponsored by the Sunday School Division; the Senior Quizzing program is operated by the Youth Department.
